"ਉਸਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ"

ਵਿਆਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ

ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ,

ਸਿਰਫ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ,

ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਰ ਪਸੰਦੀਦਾ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨੂੰ

ਇੱਕ-ਇੱਕ ਕਰਕੇ ਛੱਡਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਕਦੇ ਲਿਬਾਸ, ਕਦੇ ਸ਼ੌਂਕ,

ਕਦੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ…

ਪਰ ਮੁੰਡਾ?

ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ –

ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਆਦਤਾਂ, ਉਸਦੇ ਢੰਗ,

ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਦੇ ਸੀ।

ਜੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਬਦਲਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਵੇ,

ਤਾਂ ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ:

"ਇਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ,

ਉਹਨੂੰ ਬਦਲਣ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਲੋੜ,

ਉਹਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ…"

'ਆਪਣਾ'?...

ਫੇਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈ?

ਸੋਚ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੁੱਬ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਫਿਰ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਇੱਕ ਕੁੜੀ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ,

ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਮਝੌਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਹੈ,

ਜਿੱਥੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੀ “ਮਰਜ਼ੀ” ਚੱਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
